From Apparels to Apps: 22 years in fabric, now building as a hobby
Hi everyone,
I studied computer science, but my career went into textiles, and I stayed there for 22 years. Code was always at the back of my mind.
When AI tools took off in 2025, I started building again, first just as a hobby. Now I have a few small apps in the pipeline. The first one, ClipQuery, went live this month: you ask a question about a YouTube video and it shows you the exact moment where it's answered. (ClipQuery's profile on Product Hunt | Product Hunt)
I know there are already other apps that do something similar. What I tried to do differently is a clean, easy interface for researchers and students, with all the video details kept in one place so they can come back to it for a long time. You can also ask one question across several videos and get one comparison. Summaries come in multiple languages (on the top plan). And I keep adding features and updating it almost every day.
The Basic account is free and needs no card, so you can just try the look and feel. I'd really appreciate it if you gave it a little time.
I'm new here, and many of you have been building much longer than I have. Two things I'd love to hear:
What do you wish you had known in your first month after launching?
What do you look for when a new app launches?
Happy to share anything about moving from a non-tech industry into building apps.
