Hey everyone — I’m James Darr (JD)- Hospitality, consulting, product — one builder’s journey

by

You can call me JD, I’ve spent the past several years building businesses in a few very different worlds: hospitality with Montrose Inn, consulting through ProLine, and now product-building with Provoke.

I wouldn’t say I have it all figured out — I just really enjoy building things, learning fast, and trying to create products and experiences that genuinely help people. Some of that has looked like running businesses in the real world, some of it has looked like solving messy problems for other companies, and some of it now looks like building new tools from scratch.

What ties it all together for me is curiosity, a love for execution, and probably an unhealthy tolerance for chaos.

I’m here to share what I’m building, learn from smart people, and keep getting a little better at turning ideas into something useful. Glad to be here.

Visit proline-online.com, provoke.space and montrossinn.com to know more about my journey.

Let's connect and share some ideas and do some brainstorming together!

Hey JD, really enjoyed reading this, the mix of real world ops and product building is an interesting combo..

I’m working on Clarno.ai , focused on helping early stage founders validate ideas before they spend time building.
The goal is to help solo builders and indie founders get to clear problem statements, test assumptions, and move in the right direction early on.

Your point about having a tolerance for chaos resonated a lot. Feels like that’s almost a requirement at this stage.

Would be great to connect

@faysal_fateh Hey — really appreciate that.

Tried Clarno.ai, it is super interesting. Honestly, a lot of early founders don’t need more code at first — they need more clarity. So helping solo builders and indie founders validate ideas, pressure-test assumptions, and get pointed in the right direction early feels really valuable.

And yeah, I think a tolerance for chaos is pretty much a requirement when you’re building at this stage. There’s rarely a clean path — just a lot of imperfect info, constant iteration, and figuring things out as you go.

Would love to connect and hear more about what else you’re building.
