Hi, I'm David. I built a translator so my brother could eat dinner
by•
Hi everyone, I'm David, a developer in Toronto.
My younger brother married a Japanese woman. My parents only speak Korean, her family only speaks Japanese, so at every family dinner my brother translated both ways and barely touched his food.
So after work I started building Tablow. One phone sits in the middle of the table, and everyone else opens a link and reads the conversation in their own language on their own phone. No app or account for them.
I'm planning to launch here in early November. Until then I'm mostly here to learn from other makers, especially about launching as a solo dev.
If you've ever been the family interpreter, I'd love to hear how you handled it.

Hey David! I'm in Toronto as well. My family is from Croatia and while I can understand a lot, i'm far from fluent (and some of my cousins don't have strong English). I'd love something like this. Let me know if you think I can help, and check out my intro post to learn about me :)
