About

Developer in Toronto. My brother married a Japanese woman, and at every family dinner he translated between her and our Korean-speaking parents and barely ate. So after work I built Tablow: one phone on the table, and everyone reads the conversation in their own language on their own phone. No app or sign-up for guests. I build it alone, iOS, Android and web, and I'm happiest when a family tells me they finally talked without someone in the middle.

Android users opened my paywall just as often, but tapped "buy" half as much

Same app, same prices, same paywall design on both platforms.

Over the last month:

- iOS: 20% of people who saw the paywall tapped a plan

Solo founders: what marketing actually moved the needle for you?

I build my app alone after my day job, with no ad budget. So far the only thing that really worked for me is writing short, personal posts on Threads. One story about my family got over 300k views and brought more signups than everything else combined. Posts that explain features barely get noticed.

But I can't tell if that was luck or something I can repeat.

What made you realize your product was a "nice-to-have" instead of a must-have?

The quiet churn is honestly way more brutal than angry cancellation emails. When people just fade away without saying a word it usually means your tool is nice to play with when life is calm but the second things get busy it gets completely forgotten.

We thought our clean dashboard and smooth UX were enough but we hadn't anchored ourselves to a painful daily bottleneck.

If you noticed your users drifting off silently, how did you figure out what was missing to make the product truly essential?
