Why this UI/UX designer decided to stop "just drawing screens
Hi PH ! đź‘‹
I’m a UI/UX designer with a CS background, and for a long time, I was obsessed with pixel-perfect bento grids and smooth micro-interactions. But after seeing so many "pretty" projects fail because they missed the actual market need, I had a sobering realization: A beautiful interface can't save a product nobody wants.
I’ve spent my career helping people build things, but now I’m on a mission to help them build the right things. I'm focusing on "logical design" that starts with hard data, not just gut feelings. I'm here to connect with fellow makers who are also tired of building "ghost projects."
I have a question for the community:
What’s the most "painful" pivot you’ve ever had to make? Was it based on data or just a gut feeling?

Resonates so much! My toughest pivot was realizing generic study tools wouldn't cut it for Jeopardy prep...no way to handle that insane breadth of knowledge. So I built The Sponge: AI-powered flashcard app with a browser extension that turns webpages into spaced repetition cards to make knowledge stick. If you're up for it, I'm launching on PH soon...would appreciate a follow (See "PRODUCT HUNT LAUNCH" Link in my profile)
