Introducing iTranslate Converse, a revolutionary new speech translation App.
By holding your iPhone upside down you dramatically improve results as well as create a more natural conversation experience. It literally turns your iPhone into the first real translation device.
Hi,
I’m Alex, the CEO of iTranslate (www.itranslate.com) - the global #1 in conversational translation apps.
With iTranslate Converse our goal is to make a voice translation App that works in any environment, even when there’s background noise or when you speak fast. By holding your iPhone upside down you dramatically improve results as well as create a more natural conversation experience. It literally turns your iPhone into the first real translation device.
Feel free to reach out if there are any questions - we’re happy to answer them!

@alexmarktl I am guessing the translation is based on Google/Microsoft Cloud Translation API?

@alexmarktl When we can expect Android version? early beta access available?

@alexmarktl Does it work without internet access for countries in which internet is not quite reliable?
Does this work without an internet connection? This would have been perfect when I was lost in the middle of Costa Rica and only knew 10 words of Spanish 😔

@chadwhitaker offline function would make this app even more valuable than it is

This is awesome! I tested your app in Turkish voice translation. Working successfully 👍
Hey @alexmarktl congrats on the launch and cool product! I've seen similar voice translation apps before, most notably one integrated into the Hostelworld app. How does Converse differ?
@joon_kee_park Hi, We use state of the Art Machine Translation technology as everyone else does. However, the iTranslate Converse App creates a huge improvement over all current solutions by these 2 innovations:
1. By using the phone upside down you get much better Mic inputs.
2. The Tap & Hold gesture gives you full control over start & stop, which means way less unintended inputs.
In real life situations, especially when dealing with noisy background environments, these 2 innovations are a major step forward for speech translationApps.

@alexmarktl who is your 'state of the Art Machine Translation technology' provider?
@mahringer_a Bringing the microphone and speaker directly into the conversation improves the voice recognition results and the natural flow of conversation. The better mic input therefore allows the App to works in any environment, even when there's background noise or when you speak fast.

@alexmarktl true, but the UI is so hard to figure out. Where to click, where to hold, to many moving parts. It's need to be simpler
Awesome product! Is there any chance Converse (shoe company) can say the name infringes on their brand?
Report
@jeremy_sh I doubt it, trademark registration (and even just claiming you own trademark rights) are directly linked to the products and/or services you provide.... so, unless the shoe company has a product/service related to translation, then these guys should be safe. Same goes for most trademarks, especially if nobody opposes during the registration process. Also, even if the shoe company registered their brand for a translation device but they are not actively using the brand for that purpose then these guys end up having more right over the brand... at least that's my understanding, I might be wrong 😂
@cprins_ Thanks for the info. What is converse just has an app to sell their shoes. Wouldnt it fall under "tech", not translation but still in the realm of internet company.
Report
@jeremy_sh Really doubt it would be an issue, but always best to confirm those details with IP lawyer(s) before investing too much in a specific trademark

Very nice, I should really try that on a next trip!
