Okay, wow. My first impression of Kimi K2 is that this is a huge deal, especially for the open-source community.

Honestly, calling it a '1T parameter open model' is a bold statement, but it looks like they have the tech to back it up. What really gets my attention is the focus on 'agentic intelligence.' We're moving past simple chatbots. This is about building AI that can actually perform tasks, reason through complex problems, and actively help with things like coding. That’s the direction everyone is trying to go right now.

The fact that it's a Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) model is the really clever part. It means they've built something incredibly powerful without it being impossibly slow or expensive to run, which is usually the trade-off.

And they're making it open-source from day one! That's fantastic. It means anyone can get their hands on it, experiment, and see what it's capable of. I'm genuinely excited to see what people start building with Kimi K2. This feels like one of those launches that could really shake things up in the AI world. Big move by Moonshot AI

Kimi K2 is impressive with its strong performance and open-source approach does the team plan to support fine-tuning for applications that require high reliability?

I ran a few reasoning and agentic tests — Kimi K2 held up impressively well.

Huge props to the Moonshot team for pushing boundaries, looks like their hard work is paying off in a big way.

Kimi has returned to the right technical track. The previous product traffic placement strategy was abandoned, and they focused on making models. I think they are a very competitive LLM manufacturer.

Sounds great... How/where to get the API?

@ki001 Could ref to Kimi's API docs :)

It tried it yesterday and I was impressed with the deep research product.

It was visually better than the deep research work product from other LLMs and it was more comprehensive. I wish that I had more than 5 deep research reports but I was impressed regardless.

If you haven’t tried it for deep research, I would recommend that you give it a try.

this is awesome! specially for less price sensitive companies that care about both performance and privacy
