Woo i saw a Ted Talk last year about something like this. Pretty cool to finally see a product out.
Absolutely love it. looks like the whole package! Two notes 1. I hope these nutrient boxes are not causing a lock-in (as in I need them to have a decent yield and I can only get them from leaf co) 2. It's ok to use cannabis instead of "medicine". this whole avoidance from using cannabis and using medicine everywhere makes me feel you're trying to "play" me. yeah I know marketing talk and legal and stuff, but still I think it does more harm than good to the industry. if we use the word cannabis more, it's negative impact will lessen.

Hey Dan, 1. For the automatic dosing, we are offering our nutrient line. You are free to manually dose your own nutrients as you see fit. The reason is many nutrients will either a) clog the dosing system (if organic) or b) ruin the dosing pumps (mineral). We need to maintain the integrity of the hardware so thats why we opted this route. 2. The title of the post is "Leaf - Plug-n'-plant automatic cannabis home grow system." I agree cannabis is not a bad word and should be used more often. We use the word cannabis and medicine interchangeably.
What about making the pod design and requirements open source? This could potentially also open up another revenue stream for you guys - pods and nutrient accessories (pod containers, nutrient mixes, pods that clean the system) - similar to coffee capsules for coffee machines.

Yes we have discussed opening up the opportunity to allow nutrient manufacturers to use our pod design and have us "vet" their nutrient formulas to make sure it is safe in the system. A free for all open source is something we've also discussed but it would be hard to make sure people were using formulas that wouldn't destroy their Leaf. There is also a concern with safety certifications (UL) when it comes to this. Everything is on the table, though. We welcome collaboration which is one of the reasons we allowed customized recipes and sharing through the community - we want to see new things come from this :)

Will you guys make a plant for cultivation of harder drugs?
I think berries or veggies would be a more logical next step :P. But maybe heroine and crack is on the horizon.
