Great idea! How long did it take you to make?
Vinay Hiremath
@joe88060298 thank you! The answer is "it depends". For the SDK core, about 6 months. For the recording infrastructure it sits on top of, 4 years. 😆

You just answered my prayers!!! Ohh yeaahhh!! We've been looking for this for months! We have an LMS for schools so that teachers can create their own content, and this is something we've been looking for! Kudos guys! You guys are changing the industry! Please let me know if there is a contact for a partnership for our teachers and students accounts. Great work!!
Vinay Hiremath
@josuemontero this is a perfect use case for our SDK! The application form can be found here Josue! info.loom.com/sdk-beta-registration
Zach Stradling
We already have this integrated into our core product at Trainual! Great job on this!
Julia Szatar
@zstrad Thanks for building early with us Zach!
Elie Steinbock
Amazing! Exactly what I've been after!
Vinay Hiremath
@eliezer_steinbock1 we can't wait to see what you'll build Elie!

Congrats on the launch! Excited to try this out in Tether, a bug reporting product we've built. We already support screenshots, markup, and screen recording (to a degree), so I am excited to see how we can make our product and experience better with the Loom SDK.
Vinay Hiremath
@dan__cleary awesome Dan! How are you currently supporting screen recording? Do you handle the infrastructure yourself?
Dan Cleary
@vhmth Yeah we currently handle the infrastructure on our end. I just read that in the Loomsdk users will be required to sign up for a (free) Loom account after 5 recordings. This may chop up the user experience in our app, so we'll have to see if we are a good fit to use the SDK. But nonetheless, once again congrats and I look forward to trying out the SDK!
Vinay Hiremath
@dan__cleary totally! The tradeoff basically becomes whether the user having to sign up at some point is a non-starter for y'all compared to the benefits of standardizing with Loom. We're hoping that by partnering with folks like Trello, Linear, Atlassian, and others, we can standardize the behavior of video messaging to be synonymous with Loom. If we can do that, your users won't care, and they'll get the fastest and simplest recording, uploading, and editing experience in the world. :-)
Dan Cleary
@vhmth Yeah that is exactly the trade off I was thinking. I like the approach you are going for by standardizing and making Loom synonymous with video messaging. We'll keep all of this in mind when we get access to the beta and start to mess around with it!

Good One! Will "Get it" for sure...
Adrian Williams
I don't what this. is. I'm not a nerd. I'm just your average everyday joe but I can tell this is a great product haha
Vinay Hiremath
@adrian_williams4 thank you Adrian! Here's an explanation of what's going on here. :-) 1. We're providing a code snippet that let's web developers put Loom's screen recording software in their tools. 2. By levering our code snippet, the web developers at other companies that could benefit from video messaging will be able to build it into their application without having to worry about building the video messaging part, which is extremely complex and expensive. We happen to have the fastest video messaging offering in the world. 3. An example use case from Trello, a popular task tracking system, can be found below. Let me know if you have any more questions!

Is this going to have a limit of 5 min as you have for the free account?
Julia Szatar
@shyamal890 Hey Shaymal! The same 5 minute limit does apply if the user isn't signed up (their first 5 recordings through the SDK) or if they are and they're on a free account. If they're on a paid account, they will have no limits and still be able to use the SDK anywhere they see record buttons.
Alexey
This is awesome! Any plans to add video chat feature? If so, what pricing model?
Vinay Hiremath
@alexey6 no plans on adding a video chat feature, but could you explain a bit more how you're thinking about this?
Matt Mazzeo
This. Is. Awesome. Congrats Loom team!
Justin Reidy
@mazzeo Appreciated, thank you!
Vinay Hiremath
@mazzeo thank you Mazz!
