Lumi - A productivity app that feels like texting yourself

by
Lumi is a minimal, chat-based productivity app that lets you manage tasks, jot down notes, reflect daily, and track habits. Just send a message, and Lumi figures out the rest. The idea came from a habit I had — texting myself on WhatsApp to track things.

👋 Hey folks! Tarun here — solo dev behind Lumi. Why I built it: Like many of you, I used to send messages to myself on WhatsApp to jot down tasks, reminders, and thoughts. It always felt way easier than opening a dedicated app. I realized what I wanted wasn’t another feature-heavy planner — I wanted a frictionless, chat-like space to just type and offload things from my head. That’s how Lumi was born. What’s new or unique? Most productivity apps ask you to think in terms of structure: labels, tabs, deadlines, categories. Lumi flips that. It’s just one chat box. You type like you're texting yourself — and behind the scenes, Lumi figures out what’s a task, what’s a note, what’s a habit, or even a reflection. No UI noise, no switching modes. It’s built to feel invisible — and that’s the point. What I’m most proud of: Honestly? That I actually shipped it. This is my first ever app launch and doing everything solo — from design to code to launch — was intense. But seeing people actually use Lumi and send me feedback made it all worth it. Also proud that it's open-source and something I hope to build with the community now. Thanks so much for checking it out. I’d love to hear your thoughts, ideas, or bug reports. Let’s make Lumi better together 🚀💛
