Our first 24 hours on Product Hunt: 2,000 visitors and 5 startups onboard
Hi all,
We launched Metropolix on Product Hunt yesterday, and thought I'd share how the first 24 hours went and what we've been doing so far.
Metropolix is an interactive digital world for startups, where each business gets its own branded building and profile. I'm building it as a solo developer, with inputs and suggestions from the Startup Fortune team.
In the first 24 hours, around 2,000 people explored the platform and we've had 5 startups come on board. We're still in beta, so it's early days, but it's been encouraging to see people checking it out and showing interest.
A few things we've done so far:
Shared our Product Hunt launch on X and connected with other founders launching their products.
Joined relevant Reddit communities, contributed to discussions and shared our experience where it was relevant.
Checked out other projects on Product Hunt, left feedback and engaged with makers rather than focusing only on our own launch.
Reached out to startups we've worked with through Startup Fortune and invited them to take a look.
Added real-time traffic data to Metropolix so visitors can see activity on the platform.
One thing I've learned is that launching isn't just about posting a link and waiting. Getting involved, talking to people and being open to feedback seems just as important.
On the technical side, I've built Metropolix with Three.js and low-poly graphics to keep it lightweight and smooth to explore. There's still a lot I want to improve, and I'm treating the current version as a starting point rather than a finished product.
For those who've launched on Product Hunt, what worked for you beyond launch day? And what would you have done differently in the first few days?
Would appreciate honest feedback and happy to answer questions about the project or the technical side.
Thanks!
