How effective is the app in tracking ethnic foods? e.g. Injera and so?

@yodit_tessemaGreat question — this was a key focus for us.
MyFitFix is designed to work well with ethnic and culturally diverse foods, not just standard Western meals. Our database includes 900,000+ ethnic foods, including Ethiopian dishes such as injera and common sauces, along with over 2 million recipes across global cuisines.
For photo-based tracking, the AI looks at the overall plate, portions, and food type, which works effectively for mixed and traditional meals that don’t come with nutrition labels. This makes it especially useful for home-cooked and cultural dishes where manual logging is usually difficult or inaccurate.
While no system can be perfectly precise, MyFitFix prioritizes consistency, speed, and realistic tracking — helping users stay aware of their intake without needing to break down complex recipes or search endlessly for exact matches.

Can I use this app if am trying to loose weight?

@segen_getachew While MyFitFix isn’t built only for weight loss, it works very well if losing weight is your goal. The app focuses on the fundamentals that drive weight change: nutrition awareness, daily habits, and consistency.
By making food logging fast (photo-based), tracking key habits (protein, movement, sleep, water, steps), and summarizing progress with a simple weekly FitScore, MyFitFix helps you stay consistent without feeling overwhelmed. That consistency is what leads to sustainable fat loss over time.
At the same time, the app is flexible — it supports people who want to lose weight, maintain, improve energy, or simply build healthier habits. You don’t have to follow a rigid plan or be “perfect” for it to work.
In short: it fits weight loss goals, but it’s designed for real life and long-term health — not short-term extremes.

Will I have to delete my current fitness app?
Report

@ann_nyambura1 No — you don’t have to delete your current fitness app. But most of our users are replacing their current app it except for your apple health or google fit sync. Since you have one place to get all your healthy habits.
Making food tracking faster and less stressful
Focusing on daily habits instead of endless metrics
Giving you a clear weekly FitScore to stay consistent
You’re free to use it on its own or as a complement — whatever fits your routine best.
Nutrition matters, but habits are what make nutrition stick. The app intentionally focuses on a few high-impact behaviors instead of micromanaging everything you eat.

Can I adjust my calorie target within the app, for instance during periods of fasting?
Report
Maker
@simon_41 At the moment, MyFitFix doesn’t allow manual adjustment of calorie targets within the app. That said, this is a planned improvement and something we’re actively considering for future updates.
We recognize that many users adjust intake temporarily for religious fasting, intermittent fasting, or health-related reasons, and flexibility around calorie targets is important in those cases. Our goal is to support these real-life scenarios without making the app complicated or rigid.
For now, users can continue tracking meals and habits during fasting periods, focusing on awareness and consistency rather than strict daily targets. More customization — including fasting-friendly options — is on our roadmap as we continue to evolve the product based on user feedback.

How does the sleep tracking work in the app, do I have to manually update my hours slept each day?

@hanna_5 Good question, normally, you will have wearable either Apple or Google watches that will synchronize with our backend system to give you the results of hours of sleep. If you don’t want the wearables while sleep, you could be able to enter is manually.

Does it help in building sustainable healthier eating habits? or just counting calories?
MyFitFix is not just a calorie-counting app. While calorie awareness is part of it, the core focus is building sustainable, healthier eating habits over time.
Instead of pushing perfection or constant manual logging, the app emphasizes:
Awareness over obsession with numbers
Simple, repeatable habits like protein intake, hydration, and regular movement
Consistency, tracked through a weekly FitScore rather than daily pressure
The goal is to help users make better choices naturally, without burnout. Calories are a tool — habits are the foundation. That’s what makes the progress more realistic, long-term, and maintainable.

What kind of feedback have you received from your testers and what inspired the development of myfitfix app?
Report

@sibulelo_moloi Most of the feedback has been around simplicity and speed. Testers consistently tell us they appreciate how quickly they can log meals and habits, and that it feels less overwhelming than other fitness apps.
The idea for MyFitFix came from seeing how many people quit tracking not because they don’t care, but because existing tools demand too much time and effort. We wanted to build something people could realistically use every day, even on busy or imperfect days.
