Only on Netlify's Next.js Runtime, new Next.js Advanced Middleware gives developers control to rewrite responses and transform content at the edge. Achieve personalization with less effort and better performance. Available today on all Netlify plans.
@cassidoo Great question! Salma built a fun demo site that would be an easy starter template for someone looking to get started with the new middleware. You can check it out here: https://nextjs-advanced-middlewa...
I expect we'll see even more templates built out in the future, too!
👋 Hello Product Hunt friends and Next.js developers!
Netlify has released a new runtime that extends what’s possible with the Next.js framework. With the Next.js Runtime by Netlify, you now have complete control to transform content at the edge without requiring server-side rendering or heavy client-side JavaScript.
Here’s how it works:
⚒️ Zero-config support for Next.js: When you’re ready to deploy a Next.js project on Netlify, the Netlify platform automatically detects the Next.js framework and configures everything so the core features of Next.js just work with zero configuration.
⚡ Next.js Advanced Middleware: As you’re developing, you can use the `@netlify/next` package to enable Next.js Advanced Middleware. This gives you full access to the response body for HTML rewrites and page data transforms.
💬 Unique workflow for QA and feedback: When you open a pull request, Netlify generates a deploy preview you can use both for QA and to gather feedback from your team. When stakeholders leave on-page feedback their comments sync directly to the place where your team works, like GitHub, GitLab, JIRA, Trello, or Linear. This even works for content generated by ISR and SSR!

To sum it up: Netlify's new Next.js Runtime and Next.js Advanced Middleware give developers the power to achieve personalization use cases like localization or custom authentication in a way that requires less developer effort and delivers superior performance for end-users.
This is only the first release for Netlify's Next.js Runtime. Expect more to come in the future!
