Nuokka 1.0 - Social media for shopping

by•
Nuokka is a social-media mall where merchants can sell their products in the Nuokka feed. Because it's social media, they can tag their products and posts to make them easy to find. Shoppers can personalise, browse, search, and buy all in the app.

Hey everybody! I am SUPER excited to be unveiling my project here on PH. Have been something of a lurker for a while, but now it's my turn to show something off: As a merchant or microbusiness trying to sell online, it can be extremely frustrating navigating the worlds of ecommerce, websites, SEO, social media, and advertising. Not to mention highly costly in both time and money. What's more, in the post-Covid economy, the need to be online for these sorts of businesses has escalated exponentially! Over the past year, I've been single-handedly building a Progressive Web App to bridge the gaps between traditional ecommerce platforms—like Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce, Amazon Marketplace, Etsy, and Ebay—and the social media giants that are also trying to get in on the action—like Facebook Marketplace, whatever it is Instagram are trying to make themselves, Pinterest, and even Tiktok. The result of that work is Nuokka (rhymes with Quokka 😉 ). Nuokka allows a business to sign-up, upload their products, and advertise them in an Instagram-like stream of social-media image or video posts all completely free of charge. We only take a 5% fee on every successful sale. All payments are handled through a connected Stripe account for maximum trust and security. Shoppers can follow merchants or tags to personalise the feed of posts they see, and merchants can directly message their followers to let them know about fantastic new deals or products they're selling. The app is currently available in all territories that allow Stripe accounts, and similarly, in all currencies Stripe is happy to deal with. However, it doesn't yet deal with sales tax beyond a merchant including tax in their prices—so you may need to follow-up on any sales with additional charges (Stripe makes that nice and easy though). Don't worry; I'm currently working on automated sales tax calculations alongside launching what I have already! Hope this is interesting to some folks, and I'm more than happy to respond to questions or comments here. Cheers!
