I like this idea. It's cool. As someone who loves meeting new people, this really speaks to me. I believe its for a purpose of finding a job or hiring but i'd love it if there was an aspect of it just for meeting people in your industry, who you probably wouldn't get a chance to meet otherwise, just for a meal and chat.
Thanks for doing this. As someone new to the Bay Area and startups, I love the idea of having an informal venue to meet people who would potentially be a mentor, or even just a cool friend.
Erik is a master of bringing fantastic people together and On Deck is the manifestation of that--so many of the best collaborations, businesses, partnerships begun from meetings of like minds in forums like this. So happy to be a part of the On Deck community.
I've been doing informal dinners and all sorts of other smaller meetups for a while in Berlin and beautiful relationships have come out of them.
I'm ready to bring On Deck to Europe (Berlin, Amsterdam, Dublin, etc). And maybe even in Asia when I'll make the move.
This is fantastic! Opportunities to meet like-minded funders, founders and job-finders is what makes tech ecosystems thrive!! Way to supercharge this concept and bring it to multiple cities! Can't wait to watch this scale.
On a related note, this marks a real leveling opportunity for those less privileged, those coming into tech without a preexisting network to lean on. We talk a big game about diversity efforts, but this is the kind of platform that can make a real change.
