What's the weirdest or scariest ingredient you've ever found in your pet's food?

Genuinely curious, because this is part of why I built PetWise.

When I started looking more closely at pet food labels for my own four pets, I was surprised by how much I didn’t recognize, and how little guidance there was on whether any of it was actually okay for a specific animal, at a specific age, with specific health conditions.

None of my pets have allergies or serious conditions. But I kept thinking about owners who aren’t so lucky, and how one overlooked ingredient could genuinely hurt an animal they love.

So: has anything ever caught you off guard on a pet food label? An ingredient you had to google, something a vet flagged, or just something that felt off?
