I'm so happy to post this :)
For the last couple of months we worked really hard to release new version of Product Hunt's iOS app. Here as some of the most notable features:
* Follow other product-loving friends
* Curate collections of products
* Search for products, collections, and people
* Hunt products on the go
* Discover related products
* Download apps within the Product Hunt app
@rstankov Great work! I've been using PH daily exclusively on my phone for months now. This is a major improvement!
I've always known the desktop experience is better, but the phone is where I browse. The desktop is where you get shit done.
Great work, team. I've been eager to share this. Please let us know what you think and what you'd like to see in the next release (before you ask for it, push notifications are coming soon!).
P.S. The App Store is taking a while to propagate the update so if you have trouble downloading, please try again in an hour.
P.P.S. first person to discover the easter egg gets infinite 🙌's from me.
@wimbet we've had a lot of demand for an Android version but we've been very focused on building a great web and iOS experience first and learning what works (and what doesn't) before expanding to another platform. We don't have any immediate plans to work on Android but I promise, it will come! In the meantime, I hope our mobile web app is a decent alternative.
@raulriera Hey Raul, the animations are done with native iOS code - keyframes, spring with damping, CA emitters etc. No external libraries / frameworks. It would actually be better if it was all done consistently with a proper animation library, and proper attention to timing, easing etc... Next time!

@raulriera@davidkmckinney maybe this is the old man in me coming out, but back in my day, our apps weren't so excessively animated ;)
I like when animation shows the relationship between two things, but feel like a lot of the sliding in and bouncing of elements in the PH app don't add much value. Might just be my personal preference though.
(if you did want to go all in on animations through, I love this demo from the Campus Quad app...hints at what a hyper-animated app future might look like)
@rrhoover the basics I suppose. When someone comments, replies to your comment, perhaps when you're added as a Maker of a product, and if your post hits certain milestones (50 upvotes, 100 upvotes).

Strange how when I posted Lowdown v2.0 it was not allowed and PH 2.0 is. hmmmmmm
@djsenior13 we've received several complaints from people in the community flagging new product updates that aren't major updates. If every product update was posted on Product Hunt, 90% of the posts would be existing products. Yes, some updates are allowed if significant and we're working on ways for the community to define this subjective definition.

Looks awesome! Any chance of an iPad app sometime in the future? @rstankov
