I'm so happy to post this :) For the last couple of months we worked really hard to release new version of Product Hunt's iOS app. Here as some of the most notable features: * Follow other product-loving friends * Curate collections of products * Search for products, collections, and people * Hunt products on the go * Discover related products * Download apps within the Product Hunt app

@rstankov congrats! Been waiting a while for this! No upvoting comments?
Dimitar Bonev
@rstankov Great job.

@rstankov Great work! I've been using PH daily exclusively on my phone for months now. This is a major improvement! I've always known the desktop experience is better, but the phone is where I browse. The desktop is where you get shit done.

@chrismessina We didn't wanted to clutter the comments UI too much. They will come in a later version, but we need to find a good UI for them first.

Great work, team. I've been eager to share this. Please let us know what you think and what you'd like to see in the next release (before you ask for it, push notifications are coming soon!). P.S. The App Store is taking a while to propagate the update so if you have trouble downloading, please try again in an hour. P.P.S. first person to discover the easter egg gets infinite 🙌's from me.
Jack Shalom
@rrhoover did anyone find that Easter egg or was it just me?
James Brooks
@rrhoover I'm still looking!
Ryan Hoover
@jeshalom you were the first, Jack! 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Marc Anthony Rosa
@rrhoover Tweeted you a screenshot of a potential easter egg and/or your true feelings for me.
Irving Torres
@rrhoover @marc_rosa It's like a mini-game within the app. Nice.
Taylor Wimberly
Android version coming soon?
Ryan Hoover
@wimbet we've had a lot of demand for an Android version but we've been very focused on building a great web and iOS experience first and learning what works (and what doesn't) before expanding to another platform. We don't have any immediate plans to work on Android but I promise, it will come! In the meantime, I hope our mobile web app is a decent alternative.

@wimbet @rrhoover yeah looking forward to the android version, but right move to first "finish" for one platform and then move to the other.
Prashan Dharmasena
@wimbet I made a PH client for Android a while back. You can find it on Google Play here: https://play.google.com/store/ap...

Pretty slick, are you guys using the Spring animation framework?
Dan Seider
@raulriera yes, it's be awesome to see what third party tools/libraries they used.
tom meagher
@raulriera @applecider_ totally! Maybe a collection of products used to build the app? @rrhoover
David McKinney
@raulriera Hey Raul, the animations are done with native iOS code - keyframes, spring with damping, CA emitters etc. No external libraries / frameworks. It would actually be better if it was all done consistently with a proper animation library, and proper attention to timing, easing etc... Next time!
Adam Kazwell
@raulriera @davidkmckinney maybe this is the old man in me coming out, but back in my day, our apps weren't so excessively animated ;) I like when animation shows the relationship between two things, but feel like a lot of the sliding in and bouncing of elements in the PH app don't add much value. Might just be my personal preference though. (if you did want to go all in on animations through, I love this demo from the Campus Quad app...hints at what a hyper-animated app future might look like)
Andrew Yates
@raulriera @davidkmckinney Great job on those animations! Looks slick!
tom meagher
@rstankov @davidkmckinney I have to ask: Swift, Obj-C, or both?

Getting "This item is no longer available." in app store after I click Update...anyone else?
Vijay Sivaji
@odower same here :(
tom meagher
@odower @vjnotes I got the same. Just delete the app and then download from the App Store again.
Andy O'Dower
@vjnotes @thomasmeagher yep, figured. thanks

Wait a second...are there no push notifications for replies in PH 2.0?
Ryan Hoover
@jeshalom not yet! Coming soon. What other types of notifications would you like to see?
Jack Shalom
@rrhoover the basics I suppose. When someone comments, replies to your comment, perhaps when you're added as a Maker of a product, and if your post hits certain milestones (50 upvotes, 100 upvotes).
David Senior
Strange how when I posted Lowdown v2.0 it was not allowed and PH 2.0 is. hmmmmmm
Ryan Hoover
@djsenior13 we've received several complaints from people in the community flagging new product updates that aren't major updates. If every product update was posted on Product Hunt, 90% of the posts would be existing products. Yes, some updates are allowed if significant and we're working on ways for the community to define this subjective definition.

Looks awesome! Any chance of an iPad app sometime in the future? @rstankov
Radoslav Stankov
@robertbenj it is in our backlog. But before tackling iPad, there still some rough edges on the iPhone app. We are already working on iOS 2.1 :)
Robert Benjamin
@rstankov sweet, look forward to it!
Patrick L. Adams
Awesome! I love how clean and simple the Product Hunt app is. This is the mindset I have going forward with all apps I make.
