Two years ago, we launched an API to empower the creative and curious Product Hunt community to extend discovery beyond producthunt.com. Itโs been fun to see what people build, from a "Tinder for Product Hunt" app (by @spyuchan) to a destination of dead products, appropriately named Product Haunt (by @jsneedles and @fredrivett).
Weโre taking this a step further with the introduction of Cards. Now you can embed products and comments anywhere on the web. Just click the button in the top right of the product page, and copy+paste the code into your site.
If youโre on Medium, itโs even easier. Just paste the product URL (e.g. https://www.producthunt.com/tech...) and hit ENTER. You can see an example of this on Medium here. โจ
Would love to hear everyoneโs feedback and ideas! ๐๐ผ

@rrhoover That's awesome !! Congrats on the launch Product Hunt Team ๐
Product Hunt Cards will be so useful on Medium but also on personal websites for makers and news articles. Can't wait to use them.
It's great to see Product Hunt getting better and better ๐ฅ

@rrhoover This is awesome, Cant wait to write my next This Week on Product Hunt post using Product Hunt Cards.
Would love an option to remove media and embed just the Product title, tagline & upvote button . Would be helpful since in my weekly posts I pick my top 3-5 favorite products for each day of the week. Might make it a long post to read if media is on every embed :)
@rrhoover love this! IMO this is massive Ryan. Curious to see how this impacts growth for Product Hunt over time. I'd imagine the click-thru rate for one of these to be much higher than a regular ol' href
@joshmuccio thanks, Josh! Independent of the CTR, Cards give us more visibility into what people are sharing and how visitors are engaging with various products and comments.
For the record, the explainer GIF for Product Hunt Cards proved to hold an extraordinary level of difficulty, and @rrhoover did it all in his personal GIF creation studio. ๐
Outstanding launch, @rrhoover and team! I just added a card to a portfolio website and it works *beautifully* ๐
I'm excited to see how Cards make it easy for creators to represent their products across the web through one primary touchpoint: ProductHunt.
This launch sparked a thought about PH becoming the ecosystem for complementary launch-related products: PH-based analytics measuring traffic and conversion for launches, ads and a/b testing tools, even simple landing page opportunities a la Launchrock.
Brainstorm aside, awesome launch team!
@rrhoover So happy to share! :) Here's a link to a simple portfolio, where the 3rd and 6th items are PH embeds (Buffer for Video, Blanks for iOS) http://marcrosa.me/portfolio
PRODUCT HUNT CARDS!! Yes! This is awesome to see and really exciting to have the ability to let even more people experience PH! ๐ป

This is very cool @rrhoover and PH team. Well done. Also good to know that @beller can help get such cool stuff done at Medium.
Now need Collection Cards too.
@kartikparija - here to help with whatever cool stuff you want to get done!

@beller Wow! Thanks. Can I seriously take you up on that? Just before or just after Thanksgiving? We think it is totally worth your time given the Medium angle. What's the best way to reach you?
So maybe I'm doing it wrong? I just tried adding in a few embeded responses in my medium response to your article @rrhoover but it seems it's not working... https://medium.com/@nadermx/i-gu...
@nadermx we haven't had time to improve the UX for comment embeds on Medium. The URL isn't really discoverable, but this should work https://www.producthunt.com/comm... (where the number is the comment ID).
