My journey with Screenpipe began after I finally had a system I felt comfortable with, with a collection of agents developed using Claude Code months ago.

One day I messaged Claude and said, "What if you're not here tomorrow? I need a business continuity plan"

After a few seconds of debate, lol. Claude said ok. Then provided me with a strategy to recreate my system and itself. I asked it to rank every element of my new setup and give me a percentage of its capabilities compared to its own.

Screenpipe was the one that it admitted that it couldn't compete with given its limited context memory. So I jumped in. I finished my doctorate this year as well so I took advantage of the student discount and went all in with the one time educational discount pricing. While it still wasn't cheap at $300 it has paid for itself plenty of times.

As soon as Claude or my local setup seems to have lost context I tell it to check the last X (days, months etc) of Screenpipe and it immediately has whats needed.

Computer History / Second Brian that is opensource, lives on your computer /hardware and is cross harness/agent is something we desperately need as a layer.

Just like memory is a layer now we use for agents, computers history is an essential building block.
