An unprompted shoutout drove my biggest spike in users

I launched Deal Reaper, an iOS app, here a while back and wanted to share a quick update.

One of the cooler moments so far: a sneaker creator with ~10k followers posted an unprompted story about the app and called it a “game-changer for resellers, collectors, and casual eBay sellers.” Just a genuine shoutout — no sponsorship or ask from my end.

It drove a noticeable spike in organic users. Watching that happen in real time was one of the most rewarding moments I’ve had building this.

Growth has been slower than I’d like, but the users who do find it tend to stick around and get a lot of value from it, which keeps me motivated to keep building. On iOS, the app is currently sitting at 4.9★.

Feels like I’m still chasing another organic viral moment, but I know those are few and far between.

Curious to hear what channels have actually worked for others here. Organic moments like that seem hard to replicate.
