Building an offline-first Android app in 2026: Does privacy still sell?
Hey Product Hunt community! 👋
I recently built and updated my Android app (PDF Maker). My main goal was to build a 100% offline tool because I noticed most utility apps today force cloud uploads and expensive subscriptions just to scan a simple document.
While I've successfully kept the app completely offline (all processing happens locally on the device) and removed all watermarks, I'm trying to figure out how to grow a privacy-first app.
For those of you building privacy-focused or offline tools:
How do you market the 'privacy' aspect effectively?
Do normal users actually care about local processing as much as tech enthusiasts do?
I would love to hear your thoughts, strategies, or experiences with offline-first products!
(If you're curious to see how I implemented it, my app is PDF Maker on the Play Store, but I'm primarily here to learn from your growth strategies!)
