Built Incognear to connect with people in your immediate surrounding
by•
Whenever we move to a new place (college, internship, travel), the first few weeks feel weirdly lonely.
You don’t know the people around you.
You don’t know what’s happening nearby.
And if you’re introverted, randomly starting conversations isn’t easy.
Especially in big cities where people come for work and live in apartments without really knowing their neighbors.
I was wondering for the same like why doesn’t something exist where you can interact with people just around your immediate area?
Like your hostel, apartment block, or campus.
So I built incognear, it is a hyperlocal, ephemeral and pseudonymous social app, still in early phase would love your feedback and suggestion.
Launching Today :)

Hi Rohit! Next Door is a little bit like this in the US. And some Chinese dating apps have used location data to show people you've come across in your day. I think the main issue holding some of those apps back in the US is that women in particular can get stalked; they don't want to advertise their location too precisely.
That said, I think there could be something too the mini-social app.
Hey @jeff_benson1 , Great point. Apps like Nextdoor and some Chinese social apps did explore location-based interactions, but we’re trying to approach it a bit differently.
Incognear is designed to be hyperlocal without exposing precise identity or exact location. Posts are tied to a radius rather than a specific user location, they’re pseudonymous, and they disappear after a short time.
The goal is to let people interact with what’s happening around them without the pressure of a permanent identity or the risk of broadcasting where they are.
And you’re absolutely right about safety especially for women. That’s something we’re thinking about a lot while building the product.
Still in early phase and we are improving based on feedback. And thanks for taking time and reviewing.
