Free Claude skill that brainstorms unique SaaS & app ideas, not the usual “AI tool for X”

by•

Hey makers 👋

Ask any AI for SaaS ideas and you’ll usually get a habit tracker, an AI resume builder, or a “ChatGPT for lawyers.” Everyone gets the same list, and every idea on it already has 100 competitors.

So I built Brainstorming SaaS & App Ideas, an open-source Claude skill that makes Claude think like a sceptical founder instead of a hype machine. It covers SaaS, web apps, Android, iOS, browser extensions and marketplace plugins.

What makes it different

  • 🔍 Starts from real pain, not guesses. It digs through Reddit, HN, niche forums, 1–3★ app and SaaS reviews, and Upwork/Fiverr gigs people keep paying for. Every claim gets a source, and anything unverified is labeled [assumption].

  • 🚫 Bans clichés. To-do apps, habit trackers, “ChatGPT for X” and “Uber for X” are rejected unless there’s a sharp wedge.

  • 🧠 Uses an originality engine. 12 techniques make ideas unique, like domain collision, inversion, extreme niches, insider workflows and “ugly data”.

  • 👥 Runs the five-people test. If five other people with the same prompt would get the same idea, it’s cut.

  • 🎯 Picks 3 from 25+. It scores ideas on 11 criteria, red-teams the finalists, and gives you a safe bet, a sharp wedge and a bold bet.

  • 🙋 Fits you. It asks about your skills, budget and time, then favours ideas built on your unfair advantage.

Every idea card includes: the target customer, pain evidence, named competitors, your wedge, pricing, unit economics (including AI cost), where to find your first 100 users, MVP scope, a 7-day validation test and kill criteria.

Modes: Fresh batch · Quick · Remix (sharpen your own idea) · Direction (“only B2B”, “only iOS”) · Deep dive (landing copy, interview questions, a 4-week build plan)

How to use it (about 1 minute)

  1. Download the zip from .

  2. In Claude, go to Settings → Skills → Add and upload it. Or add to a Claude Project.

  3. Ask: “Give me SaaS ideas” or “Here’s my idea, remix it.”

It’s free and MIT-licensed. If it helps, a ⭐ on GitHub would mean a lot.

I’d love your feedback: try it and drop the most unique idea it gave you in the comments. Did it feel truly original, or did it still fall back to something generic? 🙌
