I spent a year building my first iOS fintech app while working full-time. Savd is finally live! 🚀

Hey everyone!

First time posting in the Self-Promotion section, so I figured I'd introduce what I've been working on.

I'm 27, work full-time in corporate finance, and until recently, had basically zero coding experience.

A few months ago, I started building something after noticing a problem with my own spending habits.

I wasn't making huge purchases or living beyond my means. It was the little things. $20 here, $40 there, buying things online because I was bored or because something caught my attention.

And I realized something: most financial apps help you understand your spending AFTER the money is already gone.

But what if we could interrupt the decision before it happens?

That's why I built Savd: Save Money, an iOS app focused on intentional spending and behavioral finance.

Instead of just tracking expenses, Savd helps you pause before buying something and decide whether to:

🛍️ Buy it: Because sometimes spending money is absolutely worth it.

⏳ Wait: Give yourself time to decide if you actually want it.

💚 Savd it: Skip the purchase and track what you chose not to spend.

I've also built a simulated shopping experience, spending insights, personal goals, an AI financial coach, and a learning center focused on the psychology behind our financial decisions.

Right now, Savd operates in Habit Mode, meaning it tracks your decisions without moving real money. The longer-term vision is to connect those better decisions to real financial progress.

Building this has been one of the hardest things I've ever done. And honestly, learning to build the app was only half the challenge. Learning how to get people to discover and actually use it has been a completely different experience lol.

Savd launched on Product Hunt today!

I'm still early, still learning, and genuinely looking for feedback rather than pretending I've figured everything out.

If you're interested in checking it out, here's the app:

I'd love to hear your thoughts, especially on one question:

Would you actually use an app that makes you pause before buying something, or would that extra step eventually become annoying?

That question has been on my mind throughout development.

Thanks for checking it out!
