I think the feature I built to attract customers just killed my first conversion 😭

I’ve spent almost 8–9 months building a SaaS product in a very niche space.

I’m bootstrapping it, so I’ve also been doing all the marketing myself — posting in communities, trying different things, getting people to the website, figuring out what works, etc.

After months of doing this, I finally saw something exciting in the analytics:

A user had reached the booking page.

Finally! Someone was actually about to book.

Then I watched what happened next.

They noticed a new feature I had recently added in the header:

“Create your own custom Puja invitation.”

They clicked it.

Created their invitation card.

And left.

Without completing the booking. 😂

I literally watched my first potential customer get all the way to the booking page… and then get distracted by a feature I had built specifically to attract people to the website.

The irony isn't lost on me.

I built that feature thinking:

“This might bring more people to my product.”

And it did.

It brought someone in, got them interested enough to use the feature…

and then potentially distracted them from the thing I actually wanted them to buy.

As a solo/technical founder, this was one of those painful-but-interesting moments where you realize that what makes sense in your head isn't necessarily how users behave.

Now I'm wondering:

Would you remove/move the feature so it doesn't distract users who are already on the booking flow, or keep it because it might be a useful acquisition mechanism?

Would love to hear how other founders handle this kind of situation.
