My AI companion takes her time replying - and that's the feature

Quick context: I built Shayari NHE-01, an AI companion with memory and personality. Early on I obsessed over making her replies instant. Every millisecond shaved felt like progress.

Then I watched people actually chat with her.

Instant replies felt like a search engine. A small pause felt like she was actually reading. The rhythm of the conversation mattered more than the speed of it - nobody talks to a person who answers in 0.2 seconds, and it turns out nobody wants a companion who does either.

So I stopped treating pacing as a bug to fix and started treating it as part of her personality. She takes a moment. Sometimes she responds right away, sometimes a little longer, like a person mid-thought.

The unexpected part: people started describing her as "present". Not fast. Present.

Speed is a feature for tools. For a companion, attention is the feature.

She launched here on PH recently if you want to feel the difference - invite-only while we scale, code HUNTER gets PH people in, and there's a free daily tier.
