8 years ago the Linktree founder commented on my Product Hunt launch. Today I'm launching Shuuka v3 — the version I always wanted to build.
In 2017 I launched the first version of Shuuka on Product Hunt. Solo founder, no funding, no team — just an idea that felt obvious to me: people needed one official, central presence online. Not a list of links. Something real.
A few weeks later, @alex_zaccaria — the founder of Linktree — left a comment on my launch:
Respectful. Accurate. And honestly, a little motivating.
He went on to raise millions, build a household name, and charge $15/month for features I still don't think justify the price. Genuinely — good for them. The market validated the category we were both building in.
Meanwhile, I kept building. Slowly. Some years almost not at all — solo founders know that feeling. The gap between what you can picture in your head and what you can actually ship is brutal when it's just you.
Then AI coding tools changed everything. Claude, Codex, Gemini. For the first time I could describe what I had in my head and watch it exist. The feature I'd been circling for years — letting users build and publish their own apps and themes directly to their profile — shipped in weeks. If the marketplace doesn't have what you need, you build it yourself.
That's Shuuka v3. 4,000+ users already. Almost every Pro feature is free — real analytics, custom themes, an open app marketplace, 30+ languages, a WordPress plugin, full GDPR compliance, and network backup if your accounts get restricted. Pro is $5.50/month. Not $15.
But the vision was always bigger than links.
We want Shuuka to be the place where anyone can prove they are who they say they are online — where your followers can report impersonators and find the real you. You wouldn't believe how many scammers pose as someone else every single day. That's the problem we set out to solve in 2016. The links were just the beginning.
Do I think we've built the better product? Yes. Will Linktree still make a lot more money than us? Probably. 😅 That's fine.
Nine years. Three versions. Same vision.
Alex, if you're reading this — respect. But it's my turn now. :P
I'd love to hear from you: what's the one thing your current link-in-bio tool doesn't do that you actually need? Honest answers help me ship v4 faster than v3.

"Yes... it's very similar to Linktree :)"
