Adding Multi-lingual and audio device selection support

by

We’re working on making Ski more comfortable to use for people who don’t speak English all the time.

The latest update adds more control over both voice input and voice output, with platform-specific improvements:

  • macOS: More languages available for voice input in High and Ultra modes

  • Windows, Linux: Ultra (default) mode can automatically detect the language being spoken

  • Voice output: We’re expanding the number of supported languages, and currently supports few languages in Kokoro. Each language has its own voice list.

  • Audio devices: You can now choose your input microphone and output speaker/headphones directly

  • Easy updates: Get the latest version through automatic updates or download it directly at heyski.io

We’re still expanding the language list, especially for voice output.

If you use Ski in a language other than English, we’d love to know which language you want us to support next. Or if you are facing any issues, please let us know below so that we can take a look into it.

Thank you for your support.

Being able to choose the mic and speakers directly is a small updates but honestly really useful.

Somehow we missed it in our initial release and it was one of the most requested feature. And is quite useful as you have mentioned

Auto language detection sounds cool until it mistakes background chatter for a second language. I hope there is an option to completely disable auto detection if it gets buggy.

"Ultra" mode comes with auto detection only, while the "High" mode lets you select either auto detect or the specific language for better transcription accuracy.
