Sonder: an Android RSS reader that reads your news out loud, with podcast support and Android Auto

by

Hi everyone,

Sonder is officially launching today on Product Hunt and I would love your support.

I built Sonder because I wanted to follow the news during my commute without looking at my phone. Nothing out there combined RSS and text-to-speech the way I had in mind, so I built it myself.

It supports podcasts, has a smart playlist, automatic article tagging, and full Android Auto support. No account, no subscription.

A side note: Sonder works with any TTS engine installed on your device, and I recently discovered that the Microsoft TTS voices available on Android are remarkably good. It makes a real difference to the listening experience.

This is the first stable version, but the roadmap is full of ideas I am excited to bring to life. There is a lot more coming.

It is my first Android app. I learned to develop while building it, and I am proud of where it stands today.

If you try it and find it useful, an honest review on the Google Play Store would mean the world to me. And if you like what you see here, an upvote on Product Hunt would help a lot too.

Thank you!

Honestly, I was tired of staring at my phone on the street just to catch up on the news.

With Sonder I just pick what I want to hear, hit play, and articles flow like a playlist. Walking, driving, doing chores at home. Eyes free, always.
