First launch: more nervous than I expected, and better than I hoped

My first launch is over, and I was more nervous going in than I expected to be.
The questions were sharper than I was ready for. Every one of them landed on something I did not have a comfortable answer to, and I answered anyway.
What I did not expect was how much I would end up enjoying that. Nobody was soft on it and nobody was unkind either. People read it carefully and pushed exactly where it was thin, which is the closest I have come to having my work taken seriously by strangers.
Thank you to everyone who upvoted, commented, or ran their own documents through it. I came out of it with a list of things to fix, which is more than I was hoping for going in.

The part worth holding onto is that you answered without a comfortable answer ready. That is the whole skill and it is the one that does not show up in any launch checklist. Most people, asked something they cannot answer well, either bluff or go quiet, and both are read instantly by anyone who knows the space. Saying the honest version out loud costs nothing on a launch day and it is the only thing that makes the next conversation possible. One thing to do while it is fresh, since it decays fast: write down the questions you could not answer comfortably, exactly as asked, before you smooth them out in your memory. That list is the most valuable artefact of the whole day, and by next week you will have quietly reworded every one of them into something you can answer. Congrats on shipping it.
