Hi Product Hunt! 👋 I am Max, the founder of Timeful.

I spent the last 2 years building Timeful to fill a gap in the current visual editors and design tools that I felt was painfully obvious:

  • Design tools like Figma are too disconnected from the code.
    You always end up with inconsistencies between design and code and do double work to write code for the UI you already designed.

  • Visual editors lock you in and take away control.
    Visual editors like Framer bring design and code closer together, but require you to give up all control over your code and lock you into their platform and their infrastructure.

  • AI is unpredictable and costs credits for minor tweaks.
    AI keeps getting better at generating UI, but it is impossible to iterate quickly. Every minor edit needs to be sent to the AI and you end up spending credits and waiting for a response just to tweak a margin.

Developers don’t have these limitations: they have an IDE, local previews of the app, and can edit everything with instant previews. The rest of the team should have this too.

Timeful solves this by giving you a visual editor that runs locally, directly in your codebase. You get a fully editable preview of your app on a canvas, where every edit is written directly to code using a predictable algorithm. You can also edit the code if you prefer typing, the design updates automatically. It’s all the benefits of a visual editor with none of the limitations.

I am working solo, so Timeful only works with Vue, Nuxt, and Tailwind on MacOS for now to keep the scope focused. Please give it a try and let me know what you’re building!
