built an app that turns any article url into audio — speakeasy
hey — i built speakeasy, an ios app that converts any article url to audio. you paste a link (medium, substack, blogs, news, even twitter threads) and get natural ai audio in like 30 seconds.
built it bc i had 300+ articles saved in pocket that i never read. realised the problem wasnt time or discipline — it was that reading requires ur eyes + hands which are always busy. ears tho? free like 90% of the time.
so now i listen during commutes, walks, washing dishes. went from reading maybe 1 article a week to getting thru 8-10.
what it does:
- paste any url → audio in ~30s
- decent ai voices (not robotic)
- saves to icloud, syncs to mac
- no account needed
- free tier is 3 articles/week, pro for unlimited
launching on ph march 19. would love feedback from this community — what would make u actually use something like this?

I miss pocket! I pay for matter right now but I'm not sure I love it. Two things resonate with me. One: A human reading voice, the robots are really uncomfortable. Two: Read anything! Two often you put something into a reader and it doesn't pick it up for audio, and you can't use it.
