Curing "Digital Amnesia": Why I built a quiet AI observer for macOS

by

Hi Makers!

Have you ever finished a 10-hour day at your Mac and realized you can’t quite remember where the time went? I call this "Digital Amnesia." > Most tools focus on "productivity tracking" and micromanagement. I wanted something different—a witness. So I built Orb.

Orb sits silently in your screen corner. It doesn't poke or prodd; it just watches and understands. It transforms your raw screen time into a meaningful narrative of your day.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on a few things before our official launch:

  1. Do you ever feel that "lost time" after a long session of deep work?

  2. When it comes to digital memories, would you prefer a purely functional log or a more "journal-like" AI summary?

  3. What’s the one thing you wish your Mac could "remember" for you?

Attached is a sneak peek of our new icon design—a golden orb that represents the quiet, observant nature of the app.

Can't wait to discuss this with you all!
