Curious: biggest gaps you’ve felt in launch marketing (video/creative side)?

by

Hi all,

I’m a commercial videographer who’s been geeking out over SaaS and new tech for a while now. I’m starting to explore how my background in video might fit into the SaaS world, and I’d love to learn from people here who’ve actually been through launches.

From what I’ve seen so far, two common struggles seem to pop up:

• Explaining the product clearly: A lot of SaaS landing pages or demos end up heavy on text but don’t actually show how the product works in a way a new user “gets it.”

• Standing out at launch: I’ve noticed plenty of SaaS launches where the product is solid, but the creative (video, visuals, storytelling) feels like an afterthought compared to the dev work.

What I’d love to know is: where do you usually feel the biggest struggles with marketing during pre-launch, launch, or post-launch? And do you think video or creative support could’ve made things easier/better?

Not here to pitch or promote, just genuinely trying to understand where someone like me could be useful in the SaaS space.

Would really appreciate any stories, insights, or even “we tried this and it flopped” type of lessons.

Launch day is exciting but stressful. Social assets and launch content often end up last-minute.

@onis_ortuno I think the gap is because of the founders trying to be marketer, as a founder we try to tell everything we can to audience in limited timeframe which results in text heavy images and videos. During pre-launch and launch main roadblock is quick turnover of the production videos. Maybe if you can provide quick short video clips explaining different features of product in short span of time then it might solve the gap.

@sheraz_abdul_hayee I appreciate your response. That makes a lot of sense. Getting the message across clearly can be tricky when founders are juggling too many roles at once. I’m curious, when do founders typically start the production process or begin creating videos in relation to their launch date?

This is such an important conversation. Most makers are great at building, but not always great at showing off what they built.

@abod_rehman What would be your ideal way of showing what you've built?

Perfecting each video takes a lot of time! I think what would give a lot of value is if you could over a service that fills some gap/omissions in recording (like a line or two) without having to record. Likewise if you could brighten up the videos without it seeming artificial.

@manu_goel2 Duly noted. So, helping refine the videos to bring them up to standard, so the entire weight of the content doesn’t fall on the founder’s shoulders
