Recently, the platform our app is built on released a native version of everything we offered, and even made it editable by everyone.
For a moment, it felt like we’d lost our value. Why would anyone buy our product now?
But when we looked closer, we found our real differentiator: data control.
Our version only allows admins to edit data, which suddenly made us essential for regulated industries where compliance and accountability matter most.
That reframing from “feature parity” to “governance layer” helped us reposition without changing a single line of code.
It made me realize how much positioning matters before launch or pricing strategy.
