For a new ecommerce launch, what should I prioritize first—SEO, paid ads, or community building?

I’m in the process of launching a new ecommerce product and I’m trying to figure out where to focus my initial efforts. Should I prioritize SEO, invest in paid ads, or spend more time on community building (socials, niche groups, forums) to get traction?

For a brand-new ecommerce launch, I’d prioritize quick feedback and traction first—so either paid ads (to test messaging/offers fast) or community building (to get early believers talking about your product). SEO is powerful but usually takes quite some time and I heard that recently there were some changes with indexation

A good mix might be: run small paid ad experiments to validate what resonates, while in parallel engaging in communities where your audience already hangs out. Then, once you know what converts, double down on SEO for sustainable growth.

Curious—do you already have a sense of where your target customers spend time online?

@viktorgems Thanks for the detailed insights makes a lot of sense to test and gather quick feedback before going heavy on SEO. I do have an idea that my target customers are mostly active on Instagram and Facebook, and I’ve also noticed some traction happening in niche WhatsApp groups and forums.

I’m planning to run a few small ad experiments to see what messaging works best, while simultaneously building a presence in those communities. Once I have clarity on what converts, I’ll definitely double down on SEO for the long game.

Appreciate your input — really helpful in shaping my approach

SEO is something that will give results after a while, I would prioritize everything. The connection of paid advertising and community development can work well. But in total, all this will give a much greater result.
