How do you perceive competition on Product Hunt on the same day?
My question is as follows, and I'll ask it right at the beginning:
Do you ask for help with upvoting from the people you're competing with on that day?
The following thing happened to me:
Someone approached me on X, saying that we're both launching on the same day and asked if I could reschedule it.
On the one hand, it occurred to me: "Wow, is there a real fear that I might "overshadow" someone?"
The second thing that occurred to me is that the team doesn't believe in their product enough.
So listen:
I personally don't think that being on the platform long enough will guarantee me success.
Because:
– someone else may have a hunter who is even more active and has even more followers
– someone may have a big team and contact people who will support the launch
– someone may have such a good product and be a solo founder that we will watch with our mouths open.
I don't think glorifying big profiles helps the situation.
Has something like this ever happened to you?
How do you treat competition launching on the same date?

Good products naturally deserve to be recommended — healthy competition like this pushes everyone to build better products for users.
If "your" product can exceed expectations compared to others launching the same day, doesn’t that just prove its value even more?

@calchas Maybe you are right, but I was kinda shocked that I should postpone the launch. Like... guys: Why do you want to do this for us? :D change it on your end if you want :D

@siarhei_ai Sorry to say that but these answers are AI generated, right? :D

@siarhei_ai the very first is in dashes and the second with asking too many questions :D
I see same-day launches less as “competition” and more as context. If a product resonates, it will stand out regardless of who else launches that day.
Asking someone to reschedule feels like optimizing for placement instead of conviction. Strong products survive noisy days — weak ones struggle even on quiet days.
I’ve found focusing on clarity, storytelling, and post-launch conversations matters far more than who else is on the leaderboard that day.
I believe some people are chasing the Product of the Day badge (or some sort of validation through the number of votes and the place in the top at the end of the day) and forget that this community is, in fact, extremely valuable to getting real feedback for your product.
For me, with CoreSight, while of course I would love to have the most votes on the day that I'll launch, I find this more of a vanity metric - I would rather know a couple of people really tried the product and that part of them continue using it, give us valuable feedback, or continue as maybe even brand ambassadors.

@andreitudor14 when do you want to launch then? :)

I've never received such messages about moving the product launch. This could be planned if they had informed us two weeks before the launch. But moving it on the same day, I think that's a bad idea.

@ixord looking at the fact that we had 6th spot, maybe it would be better to move it into the weekend :D

@busmark_w_nika It might be a good idea, considering how many people are talking about launching over the weekend :)

@ixord Maybe our next launch will go with that strategy :D
IXORD
@busmark_w_nika Haha, if you do that, please let me know so I can vote :)
