I use AI tools a lot for email and chat, and I keep running into the same annoying last-mile problem: pasted text comes in with odd fonts, spacing, or broken bullets, and pasting as plain text nukes structure entirely.
I've gone pretty deep on this recently and realized there isn't really a great “default” workflow people agree on.
Curious how others handle this today. Do you just paste as text and rebuild, use some middle step, or something else entirely?
Genuinely interested in what people are doing in practice.

@I feel this pain! Here's what works for me:
1. **Paste as plain text first** (Cmd+Shift+V or Ctrl+Shift+V) — strips all formatting instantly
2. **Use a clipboard manager** — some let you auto-strip formatting before paste
3. **Quick Markdown trick** — paste into a Markdown editor, then copy out clean
4. **For bullets** — I just accept that I'll re-add them manually. Faster than fighting the formatting.
It's annoying that this is still a problem in 2026! Someone should build a tool just for this 😅
What apps are you pasting into most?
