How to Run a Time Audit (in 3 simple steps)

by

Try this simple self-audit — it only takes one day, and the insights can be game-changing.

1. Choose a realistic workday

Pick a day with meetings, solo work and interruptions, something typical.

2. Track your time in 30-minute blocks

Log what you were doing and categorize it (deep work, admin, reactive, distraction, etc.)

3. Analyze it

Group your activities into:

  • Deep work (strategy, creation)

  • Admin (emails, status updates)

  • Meetings

  • Distractions / low-value work

Then ask:

How much of your day was intentional?

Where did you lose momentum?

What surprised you?
