Permission Trail UPDATE 1.1 Coming soon!
A more controlled and cleaner way to manage what gets tracked.
Hey everyone,
I’m excited to share a significant update to Permission Trail — Version 1.1, introducing the new Website Exclusions system.
What’s new in v1.1
Add websites to an Exclusions list
From the dashboard, you can now select one or multiple websites and add them to your Exclusions. These sites will no longer be tracked or logged going forward.
New dual-tab layout
The dashboard now includes two tabs for better organization:
Tracked Websites
Excluded Websites
Excluded sites are hidden from the main table, keeping your tracked view clean and focused.
“Track Again” actions
You can re-enable tracking for any excluded site with a single click, or restore multiple at once.
Permission Trail excluded by default
The extension now automatically excludes permissiontrail.co.uk to avoid accidental data clears or logouts.
Improved layout and responsiveness
Action buttons and filters reorganize intelligently on smaller screens, preventing UI overflow and keeping everything usable.
Why this matters
Many users wanted more fine-grained control—especially developers and privacy-focused users who needed specific domains ignored.
This update makes Permission Trail more flexible, customizable, and easier to use long-term.
Technical highlights
New excludedWebsites store using chrome.storage.local
Real-time syncing between extension and dashboard
Support for bulk add/remove operations
Cleaner state management and message passing
More consistent UI spacing and responsive behavior
The new extension is currently being approved by the Chrome store but should be live in a few days!
If you try the new Exclusions system, I’d love to hear your thoughts or suggestions. Your feedback directly shapes every update.
Thanks for following along — more improvements are already in progress.
