Time v1.2.0 - Auto-Hide Your Local Time Zone and Bug Fixes
Hey everyone!
Just shipped another update to Time (v1.2.0), and I wanted to share what’s new.
You can download the latest version at https://menubartime.com.
Auto-Hide Current Time Zone
There’s a new option in Menu Bar preferences called “Auto-hide current time zone”.
When enabled, any time zone that matches your current location is automatically hidden from the menu bar.
This is especially useful if you travel often. As soon as you arrive somewhere new, your local time zone no longer clutters the list and you don’t have to manually toggle anything.
Work in Progress: Click to Type Time Changes (will be available in v1.3.0)
I’m also working on a feature that lets you click the current time and simply type a new time to see how it translates across all your time zones.
For example, you could type “5:00 AM” and instantly see what time that would be in New York, London, or Tokyo.
This is mainly meant as a quick sanity check when planning or coordinating across time zones, without needing to do mental math or using the Time Scroller.
Bug Fixes
Fixed context menu positioning issues on smaller screens
Fixed time not live updating in the popover (seconds now tick correctly)
Fixed menu bar layout shifting when seconds are enabled
System Requirements
Time requires macOS 14.0 (Sonoma) or later.
Important note
If you’re on version 1.0.2 or earlier, automatic updates won’t work due to a sandboxing issue. Please download the latest version manually from https://menubartime.com.
As always, thanks for all the feedback. Let me know what you’d like to see next.
