v1.5.1: A More Powerful Spellcheck + QoL Fixes

Hello, everyone!

Prosaic now supports a more powerful multilingual spell check powered by Hunspell. Pick a language per profile during setup or any time in manage profiles, toggle it with ctrl+k, and use prosaic --languages to browse all 80+ supported codes.

A few smaller things: the status bar shows spellcheck:on/off (contributed as a community PR!), the Git status hides when you're not in a repo, and new piece titles auto-format to Title Case. 1.5.1 also makes invalid language codes fail loudly.

Also, if you upgrade, you will be taken right into setting up the new spellcheck on the next launch.

As always, to upgrade:

pipx upgrade prosaic-app

And if you are a first-time user:

pipx install prosaic-app

Lastly, I invite you to follow the GitHub repo and star it if you enjoy Prosaic.

Multilingual spellcheck with an easy toggle is a solid upgrade, those small QoL touches add up fast in daily use.

Deepansh, this is the kind of tool that makes me respect the craft behind the craft. No AI, no cloud, no subscriptions. Just a terminal, markdown, and your words. That's a statement in 2026.

The Hunspell integration for 80+ languages is a smart move. Writers working in multiple languages needed this. And Git-ready from the start means version control is built into the writing process, not bolted on after.

I'm a published author and I run my writing through a different pipeline (Claude with custom skill files for voice consistency, then IngramSpark and Draft2Digital for distribution). But I respect that Prosaic takes the opposite approach. Strip everything away and trust the writer. That takes confidence in the product.

Starred the repo. Looking forward to seeing where this goes.
