Why are we still uploading sensitive files in 2026?

Genuine question for the community 👇

Most online tools still require uploading files to remote servers even for simple tasks like compressing a PDF or converting an image.

Modern browsers are powerful enough to handle this locally.

So why hasn’t the default shifted yet?

Is it:
• Legacy architecture?
• Business model incentives?
• User convenience?
