Why does modern analytics still feel broken?

I’ve been building Produl (a privacy-first analytics tool), and one thing kept bothering me:

Why does analytics in 2026 still feel… off?

A few things I kept running into:

  • Data isn’t actually real-time (even when tools say it is)

  • You need multiple tools just to understand user behavior

  • Setup is still way more complex than it should be

  • And most tools rely on tracking that feels questionable

It made me wonder:

👉 Are we overcomplicating analytics?

Should it just be:

  • plug in one script

  • see what users are doing instantly

  • and actually trust the data

Curious how others here think about this:

What’s the most frustrating part of analytics tools you’ve used?
