Why We Built an AI Engine That Turns Floor Plans Into Infrastructure

by

Hey Product Hunt community!

My co-founder and I aren’t interior designers. We’ve never been architects. We haven’t worked in real estate.

We’re just builders who spotted a weird gap in PropTech.

Everyone in property still works from 2D floor plans. Those flat blueprints that professionals read fluently but everyone else squints at. And almost every PropTech product trying to show spaces visually is rebuilding the same capability from scratch, over and over.

That felt inefficient to us.

So we built Foursite at VirtualSpaces. It’s an AI engine that converts floor plan to 3D and blueprint to 3D at scale. Not just for hero projects. For everything.

What makes this different:

Most 3D tools treat each project as a one-off custom job. Foursite is designed as infrastructure. You feed it 2D floor plans or blueprints, and it generates structured, reusable 3D models that multiple products can build on top of.

The same engine that creates AI virtual staging for one team powers interior design 3D visualization for another. A rental marketplace can use it for basic 3D walkthroughs. A design firm can use it for interior design photoreal renders.

Why we think this matters:

PropTech is moving from photos to immersive experiences. But photos only show “what is.” Floor plans show structure. That makes floor plan to 3D conversion uniquely powerful as a foundation.

When you convert blueprint to 3D using Foursite, you get AI interior design and AI interior decor layered onto a structurally accurate model. Virtual Staging becomes native to the space, not pasted on afterward.

The shift we’re seeing:

Once users experience listings with consistent AI 3D visualization across every property, clean walkthroughs, multiple AI interior décor options, believable staging, their expectations reset. Flat plans suddenly feel outdated.

That’s the infrastructure shift. When a capability becomes expected everywhere, it needs to be built once and shared, not recreated by every team.

What we’re focused on:

Making the tech reliable enough that it fades into the background. PropTech founders shouldn’t have to think about how to convert 2D to 3D. They should just assume it happens automatically whenever a floor plan enters their system.

We’re early in this journey, but the feedback from designers, architects, and developers using Foursite has been encouraging. They’re not asking for features. They’re asking how fast they can process more floor plans.

I wrote a longer piece about why AI floorplan-to-3D platforms will become core PropTech infrastructure: From Tool to infrastructure: Next wave of Proptech

If you’re building in property tech or have thoughts on where visualization is headed, I’d genuinely love to connect.

Cheers!
