Launching uTerminal on Product Hunt 🚀
Launching uTerminal on Product Hunt 🚀
A few disclaimers first:
It’s not fully free. On the free plan, everything is free except the AI assistant.
New accounts get 7 days of Plus for free, so you can try the AI assistant during that period.
For AI features, you still need to configure your own API and key.
Another disclaimer: I still don’t think the UI looks good enough yet. I’ll keep improving it.
And one more thing: yes, it’s basically an SSH wrapper — but without the bloated installer and ridiculous memory usage.
Why I built it
Existing tools still leave a lot unmet for me:
No sync support
I use multiple computers, and keeping things in sync is a headache. No export support
Yes, I’m looking at you, Termius. To be fair though, it’s still a great product.Too heavy
Some apps come with installers over 100MB and use a lot of memory. I just want to connect over SSH.No proper RDP support
Some tools don’t support it at all. Others just launch MSTSC / Windows App straight into fullscreen. No built-in AI workflow
When I hit an issue, I still have to keep copying terminal output into GPT or another AI tool. That gets annoying fast.
What uTerminal is
uTerminal is not just SSH in a window.
It’s designed more as an all-in-one tool for daily ops work, network device management, and multi-session workflows.
The UI is inspired by IDE-style sidebars. In one app, it combines:
SSH / RDP / local terminal / serial
And also includes:
SFTP / port forwarding / session management / system monitoring / log replay / AI assistance
The goal is to reduce context switching and keep everything in one adjustable workspace.
Current direction
Keep it lightweight and simple
Installer is around 10MB
Runtime memory usage is around 100MB
WebDAV sync across devices, with your data staying in your hands
Import / export supported, so you can leave anytime if it doesn’t work for you
Unified support for multiple protocols
Multi-tab workflows with adjustable layouts
Built-in SFTP, port forwarding, and session logs
Supports connection configs, credential reuse, and group management
AI can work with terminal output context for troubleshooting and command help
Desktop-first, focused on practical experience across Windows and macOS
Also supports trzsz, lrzsz, and lots of shortcut keys
(some hidden ones are still undocumented — consider them Easter eggs 😂)
I’d really love your feedback
I’m especially curious about:
What matters most to you in a terminal tool?
Does multi-protocol integration actually bring real value?
What is your most painful ops / remote access workflow today?
Any strong preferences around UI, interaction, layout, or session management?
The project is still evolving, and I’d genuinely love feedback, feature requests, or blunt criticism.
