Describe your web app idea using plain English, and GPT Web App Generator will scaffold the complete, full-stack app for you, along with all the source code! The code is generated in React, Node.js, Prisma & Wasp. Deploy it with a single CLI command ๐.
Hi Product Hunt ๐,
After months of hard work, we're super excited to announce GPT Web App Generator for React & Node.js!
Imagine if you could describe your app idea in a few sentences and get a fully functioning codebase in React & Node.js that you can continue working on and easily deploy - now that's possible!
Here's what you get:
๐ Full-stack auth (free, no 3rd party services)
๐จ Tailwind CSS as design system
๐ One-step deployment
๐ป Front-end, back-end, and data models and relations scaffolded for you
We can't wait to see what you build and are super excited about getting your feedback. We have plenty of ideas for further improvement and would love to hear what's most important to you. You can see more examples and read about the future plans here.
NOTE: Since this is a GPT-powered project, it's output is not 100% deterministic and small mistakes will sometimes occur in the generated code. For the typical examples of web apps (as seen below) they are usually very minor and straightforward to fix. If you get stuck, ping us on our Discord!
Happy building!
@ianwdj thanks for the kind words! And yes, development was 100% the discovery process. We initially expected the biggest challenge to be the limited size of the context that GPT uses, but it actually proved that the bigger issue was the "smarts" of the model and providing really detailed instructions as it would otherwise often find a shortcut to bypass them.
We also documented a bit of the backstory and challenges and ideas for the future here: https://dev.to/wasp/gpt-web-app-...
@matijash@ianwdj Maybe, but to be honest I don't know if we would know what to buy off the shelf. Mostly it was custom work of guiding GPT through the right steps, and also of providing it with the right context at the right moment. Then quite a bit of prompt engineering, trying to get it to follow the rules properly.
So I am not sure what could we get here that was already done / ready, but happy to hear if you have some suggestions!
@matijash Congratulations, this is really impressive. I appreciate the simplicity of it and look forward to have an idea to test with this.
Long name though :D
Proud of the team for their hard work on this! The fact that the initial outputted code is actually useable from the start is huge :)

This seems like an interesting launch! It sounds like an incredible tool that can greatly simplify the process of creating a full-stack application by automatically generating the complete app along with its source code. I'm curious to know more about your product. Could you please provide information on how the generated app can be customized or extended beyond the initial scaffolding?
@al_llamas thanks! Right now you download the code and it is a normal codebase that you can continue working on yourself.
As for the future, the idea would be to add some extra steps to the generator, so you can tell it, right after first scaffolding, to do some things differently or to add something, so you would iterate that way for some time.
This is awesome to see from Wasp. I have a feeling that a big part of software dev will be generated by AI so seeing GPT integrated with Wasp looks like a great way forward.
@jakepage Appreciate it, looking forward to hearing your impressions!

@matijash@martin_sosic Congrats on the launch! ๐ I can't wait to try it out and see how it simplifies the development process. It's fantastic to see innovative tools like this emerge in the web development space. Kudos to you and your team!
The Wasp team keep putting out awesome stuff.
Really fast generation. I generated a badminton tips site https://magic-app-generator.wasp...
Looks really cool
