The difficulty in pre-packaged models is the geographic influence within economics. Making a single fit-all model in residential construction is really difficult. For example, in the Midwest, where an average home costs $135,000 would have a tough buy for a family to spend .5M on something they may not see as a value yet in that area. In addition, places like Denver, Portland and Cali have the complete opposite swing where an acre is well above the 1m mark. Right now I see these appealing to a really really niche market solely on the heavy variability within the market today and because site dictates much of that price. Also, I would like to see on your site building warranty, permitting processes, building materials, ect. Just a little more white pages so that I could feel comfortable to buy one tomorrow. Above all - its a great idea and really excited to see where it goes.

There is no one size fits all, nothing in housing could be. Average price in midwest is a bit higher than that, but the average is made up mostly of existing stock. New home prices in Kansas City averages around $280K+ and those, IMO, are REALLY missing the mark with quality, efficiency and design.
This current series is niche, with premium finishes, appliances, materials, and technology. It's the Tesla Model S of homes and we feel is a great value even at this price. We will share the technology and design next year with much more affordable homes, which will also be a fantastic value for their price.
We handle permitting and local compliance, warranty our work for 10 years and will give support to our customers for the life of the home. Materials vary a little, but stay tuned and we'll share the option sets.
Thanks!

I kept reading smartphones, but this is even better! Is this like the German Passivhaus?
@_jshmllr we started with that idea, but quickly realized we could make a bigger impact stemming the tide of poorly built new homes. Each remodel is unique, time-intensive and not often cost-effective, so though it's an important service for a local company, it's not scalable as a startup.
