@askdaylen Hey Daylen! It depends on the province, actually. In Ontario it's not currently covered at all. We're not live in BC yet, but there are telemedicine billing codes in BC so our model will be different there.
Our model is actually ahead of most insurance schemes in Canada - even the most progressive among them, like BC, are very focused on video whereas our experience has shown that text is probably more useful in many circumstances. So for now, the intent is for Akira to be broadly affordable - if you can afford Netflix, you can afford Akira.

@dwalper Congrats on the launch in BC, I noticed that you were featured on the App Store today! At the moment, I noticed you are sticking to the subscription model in BC. Have you had any talks with regulators regarding the possibility of including text-based services on MSP? Also, I noticed that you were acquired by Right Health. Want to share any deals about why you decided to go down this route?

if I can choose which doctor I can talk to? If this will conflict with family doctor?
@stevesun21 For now, you'll be paired with whichever doctor is available at that moment. As our team grows, we'll try to pair you with a doctor you've had before (that you liked) whenever possible. Other preferences you'll be able to set in the future are gender of the doctor and languages spoken.
Akira is a not a replacement for your family doctor. But it also won't conflict with their access bonus if they're on a roster model (your doctor might be part of a Family Health Team or Family Health Organization), since the services delivered by Akira doctors are currently uninsured.
In fact, we try hard to make sure your family doctor is aware of any changes to medical management that our doctors might make. If you consent, we'll send them notes periodically so they can maintain a complete record and follow up with you as needed.
