Ask Quran offers a ChatGPT-style interface that allows you to ask questions and receive references from the Quran. Whether you are trying to find something in the Quran or have forgotten the reference to a particular verse, Ask Quran can help.
Hey everyone!
We recently took part in the Cohere AI hackathon and built AskQuran, an AI-powered search engine for the Quran. This search engine uses Arabic text embeddings and English translations of the Quran to give the most relevant results to user queries. We also added an explanation of the Quran (Tafsir Saadi) to further enhance the results.
This is just the beginning. We still have a lot of work to do to turn this into a launchable product. We're looking for collaborators who can help us with the ML work and with building the final web app. Let us know what you think.
Our goal is to expand this to include the vast Islamic literature.
The plan is to expand this to the huge Islamic literature.
Hi there! Congrats on the recent launch of Ask Quran on the Product Hunt!
This project can save people time and provide answers to important questions in their lives. I think this is very important in our time.
What literature are you planning to add to Ask Quran?
@denis_galka thanks a lot! In the near future, we want to add more contexts based on multilingual religious literature. In the long run, once we have an established system, this could be expanded to any type of multilingual documentation/content.
@misbahsy thanks for the answer, Misbah. I wish you all the best with Ask Quran.

aoa misbah. congratulations on the launch. how are you confident that the app will be providing legitimate information? I suggest you giving an option to contact some mufti/mualim (attach chat and send an email) as some matters are very sensitive. You must at least show a message, something like "please contact mifti/mualim as the information might not be correct or complete".
@naveed_rehman thanks for the suggestion. This app will be a for a quick reference. We will definitely have to add a disclaimer as you mentioned. I plan to display source verses in the next version.

@misbahsy Congratulations on the launch! Wish you all the best!
I have a question though, Say I wannt to use this for research purposes, but I want to look at different types of tafseer from different Islamic sects or scholars. will I be able to do that in the future?
@blindlegendary Thanks! The next milestone is to add a few more renowned commentaries (tafseer books). Hoping to also make in an interface where you could ask "what is mentioned about this verse in tafseer ibn katheer?" or any other tafseer available in the platform.
